A Marine recruiting station was vandalized last night in Shadyside.

Windows were smashed and cracked and paint was splattered inside the station in the 5800 block of Ellsworth Avenue.

Capt. Brendan Wolf, who runs the station, said that Pittsburgh Police are investigating.

He said he didn't know whether the vandalism was an anti-war protest.

However, the Pittsburgh Organizing Group, an anti-war organization, had said on its Web site that it planned a protest for last night at the station.

Capt. Wolf said the station's operation wasn't seriously disrupted today.
