Unidentified goat found
Tuesday, January 02, 2007

You never know what you're going to run across in the middle of the big city.

Like, say, a goat.

Pittsburgh police found one tied to a U.S. Postal Service mail box at the corner of Herron and Hancock in the Polish Hill neighborhood on New Year's Day.

Officer Robert Smith reported that the goat, which a had a collar, had "an approximately four-inch beard and both left and right horns are intact."

But, he reported, "there was no other identifying information found on the goat."

It didn't seem to be injured, he said.

Police secured the animal behind the Zone 2 station until an animal control unit could pick it up.
