North Hills

North Hills Junior High School will host the Mucho Macho Music song festival Tuesday, sponsored by the Southwest Region of the American Choral Directors Association of Pennsylvania. More than 120 boys in grades six through nine, representing 18 schools, will participate in the one-day workshop.

Members of the Westminster College men's chorus will provide a vocal model of what is to come once voice change takes place.

In addition to performing for workshop participants, members of the men's chorus work with students, encouraging them and joining them in the informal closing performance at 3 p.m.

It is the third year the school has hosted the festival. This year's guest conductor is Eileen Hower, who is president-elect of the choir directors association and teaches middle school chorus and general music in the Central Columbia School District, Bloomsburg, Columbia County.

North Hills School District will offer a one-hour free Internet safety program for parents during upcoming parent conference days. Informational sessions will take place at 1 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday and at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday. All programs will be held in the large group instruction room of the North Hills Junior High, 55 Rochester Road, Ross.

Junior high counselors will share information about Internet safety and cyber bullying. Current methods of monitoring computer and Internet use will be discussed. Staff members will provide families with the foundation to establish an Internet use policy within their homes.

These programs are open to district residents.
