NFL Notebook: Bush, Leinart get on the board with TDs
Monday, October 09, 2006

Reggie Bush finally got into the end zone for the first time as an NFL player -- and at a critical time. Matt Leinart didn't waste any time in his first start to throw the first scores of his career.

Both former University of Southern California stars played big roles yesterday -- Bush in a win, Leinart in a loss.

Bush, the New Orleans Saints' rookie running back, scored his first touchdown as a pro on a 65-yard punt return with less than five minutes remaining to give the Saints a 24-21 lead against Tampa Bay yesterday. New Orleans went on to win by that same score.

Packers

Koren Robinson's legal problems have not earned him a suspension from the NFL. Not yet, anyway.

League spokesman Vince Casey would not comment on a Fox Sports report that the Packers' wide receiver has been told he has been suspended one year by the NFL but is appealing the punishment. Casey said Robinson "has not been suspended," but would not comment on whether the receiver is in the middle of the appeals process.

A court in Kirkland, Wash., gave Robinson a 90-day jail sentence on Wednesday for violating the probation issued to him after he pleaded guilty to a drunk driving offense there last year. Robinson also is scheduled to face drunken driving charges for a separate incident in Minnesota later this month. The Minnesota Vikings released Robinson after the incident in August, and he signed with the Packers in September.

Colts

Marvin Harrison's first catch against the Tennessee Titans gave him a reception in his 159th consecutive game, an NFL record to start a career. Harrison broke the previous mark of 158 established by former Colts and St. Louis Rams running back Marshall Faulk. ... Indianapolis won its 12th in a row against an AFC South foe and completed a sweep of its home games against divisional rivals with a 14-13 victory against Tennessee.

Raiders

Receiver Randy Moss became the seventh receiver in NFL history with 100 TD catches. ... A 10-game losing streak for the Raiders is their worst skid in Al Davis' tenure with the club since 1963.

Injury report

Chiefs running back Larry Johnson was injured on a facemask tackle at the end of a 78-yard pass play late in Sunday's game against the Cardinals. He left the field under his own power. ... Arizona wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald left in the first half with a right hamstring injury ... Lions wide receiver Roy Williams' upper back was injured against Minnesota.

Elsewhere

Chicago is off to its first 5-0 start since 1986. ... Rams quarterback Marc Bulger extended his league-best interception-free streak to 214 attempts. ... The Lions (0-5) have lost nine in a row to Minnesota, dating to 2001.
