Fox Chapel's Jenkins retires
Tuesday, February 15, 2005

Harry Jenkins retired as coach of the Fox Chapel High School boys' basketball team after leading the program for 25 seasons.

Jenkins posted a 316-272 career record and guided the Foxes to the WPIAL Class AAAA championship game in the 1997-98 and 1987-88 seasons.

"Overall, I have to say that it was a positive experience," Jenkins said. "I developed a lot of personal friendships with parents and colleagues and lifelong relationships with many of my players."

Jenkins has not retired from his teaching position as drivers' education teacher at Fox Chapel and he hasn't closed the door on returning to coaching in the future.

"Right now, it is just a case where things are a bit too time consuming," he said. "I'd like to come back and coach. I really would. Just right now, I feel like I need to take a step back but sometime, at some level, I wouldn't mind returning."
