TOP SEEDS: Oakland Catholic (22-2) is first, Bethel Park (22-2) is second, Gateway (20-3) third and New Castle (20-4) fourth.
FAVORITE: Oakland Catholic. The loss Jan. 31 to Gateway probably will help Oakland Catholic. It might wake up the Eagles. Oakland Catholic has three Division I college recruits in guard Brianne O'Rourke (Penn State), guard Sarah Bucar (West Virginia) and forward Eve Pyle (Miami, Ohio).
NEXT IN LINE: Gateway is young, but the Gators defeated Oakland Catholic. Bethel Park could make noise with senior Danielle Gratton, an Illinois recruit and one of the best all-around players in the WPIAL. And don't forget about New Castle. The Red Hurricane won the WPIAL title last year, and sophomore Jaleesa Sams makes them a team to watch.

FAVORITE: North Catholic. This is a no-brainer. The Trojanettes are the two-time defending champions and the No. 1-ranked team since the preseason. Senior Rachel Frederick is one of the WPIAL's top guards and sophomore April Austin one of the WPIAL's best point guards.
NEXT IN LINE: Hopewell won a section title behind Becky Novacek, a 6-2 sophomore. The Vikings could make some noise. Moon struggled early in the season because of injuries but has played well lately.

Girls' Class AA
TOP SEEDS: Avonworth (23-0) is first, Greensburg Central Catholic (17-5) is second, Fort Cherry (20-4) third and Seton-LaSalle (19-5) fourth.
FAVORITE: Greensburg Central Catholic. Although the Centurions aren't the No. 1 seed, they are talented and have good size. GCC also is on a roll, winning 10 in a row.
NEXT IN LINE: Avonworth. The Antelopes are the No. 1 seed and led by 5-8 senior forward Kelli Costa, the school's all-time leading scorer. Seton-LaSalle has played well lately, winning 12 of its past 13 games by an average of 21.3 points. Niki Williams has signed with Hofstra.

TOP SEEDS: Serra (20-1) is first, Mount Alvernia (18-4) second, Sewickley Academy (16-6) third and St. Joseph (19-5) fourth.
FAVORITE: Serra. The Eagles are fun to watch, leading the WPIAL in scoring with a 70.0 ppg. average. They have played in the past two WPIAL title games.
NEXT IN LINE: Mount Alvernia. The Lions have won 15 games in a row. Monessen no longer has star player Charel Allen but is still a team to watch, even though it has lost five of its past nine games. Clairton also could make some waves.
