High School Roundup: No. 2 Shaler takes fall
Tough defense lifts Butler to 57-47 win
Friday, December 24, 2004

Butler boys' basketball coach Joe Lewandowski came up with a recipe to defeat WPIAL Class AAAA No. 2 Shaler.

"You have to have someone else beat you," he said. "You can't let Nick Sefscik and Stu Anglum do it."

His theory proved correct as a stellar Butler defense held the Shaler pair to 26 combined points and the Golden Tornado (5-4, 2-2) pulled off a 57-47 upset against the visiting Titans (7-2, 2-2) last night.

Sefscik scored 16 points while Anglum chipped in with 10. Rich Miller was Shaler's leading scorer with 17 points, while Blake Anderson led Butler with 17.
