Two Pennsylvania soldiers were killed in separate incidents Friday in Iraq, U.S. military officials say.
1st Lt. Neil Anthony Santoriello, 24, of Verona was killed when an improvised explosive device detonated near his mounted reconnaissance patrol vehicle near Khalidyah.
Santoriello was a member of the 1st Battalion, 34th Armor, at Fort Riley, Kan.
Army officials said the incident is under investigation.
Santoriello was a 2002 graduate of Dickinson College, where he majored in political science and was a member of the school's Blue Mountain Battalion, part of its Reserve Officers Training Corps.
A second Pennsylvania soldier, Lance Cpl. Nicholas B. Morrison, 23, of Carlisle, was killed during hostile action in Al Anbar Province, the Department of Defense said Saturday.
Morrison was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune.
There was no immediate word on survivors, and attempts to locate Morrison's family yesterday were not successful.
