Education Editor Jane Elizabeth joined the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in 1994 after working for newspapers in Virginia for 16 years.
A graduate of Radford University, she also holds a master's degree in mass communications from Virginia Commonwealth University. She recently led a team of reporters on a series on teacher quality, published in February, which won an investigative reporting award from the Pennsylvania Associated Press Managing Editors Association.
Earlier this year, she was awarded a 2003 Journalism Fellowship in Child & Family Policy, which provided financial support for research on "The Disappearing School Board" series. The fellowship program, based at the University of Maryland, is funded by the Foundation for Child Development and the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.
She also teaches journalism at the University of Pittsburgh and Point Park College.
