AAAA Roundup: North Hills downs Butler; McKeesport upsets Kiski

Saturday, October 05, 2002

From local dispatches

A showdown is ahead in the Quad North Conference.

Quarterback Scott Fichter ran for two touchdowns and the North Hills defense was superb the entire way, leading the Indians to a 12-0 victory at Butler.

North Hills (5-1, 4-0) won its fifth consecutive game and took over sole possession of first place.

Next Friday, the Indians will play host to Bethel Park (6-0, 3-0), the only other team with an unbeaten record in the Quad North. Bethel Park beat Central Catholic, 13-5, in a non-conference game last night.

Fichter scored on a 1-yard run in the first quarter and on an 8-yard run early in the fourth. His second touchdown came on a fourth-and-goal play.

In the meantime, North Hills did not let the Golden Tornado inside its 40-yard line. Butler (3-3, 1-2) got past midfield only twice, losing a fumble each time. Butler had only 61 yards of total offense in a steady downpour.

The Indians have allowed only 16 points during their five-game winning streak.
