- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 cups finely chopped pecans
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Sift and measure flour; sift again with salt. With electric mixer, cream shortening, granulated sugar and vanilla until fluffy.
Add flour to creamed mixture, blending thoroughly. Add pecans, mix well.
Shape into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake in a preheated 325-degree oven for about 20 minutes. Cool and roll in powdered sugar. Store in loosely covered container to assure cookies retain their crispness. Yield: About 6 dozen.
