- 1 pound pitted dates, chopped
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
Mix dates and nuts with sifted flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
Beat eggs until light. Add sugar gradually and mix well.
Add flour mixture to egg-sugar mixture. Blend thoroughly and pour into a greased 9-by-9-by-2-inch pan. Bake in a 350-degree preheated oven about 20 minutes. Cut into bars while warm. Roll in powdered sugar, if desired. Yield: 24 bars.
