Farmers' Markets: Beans and broccoli in abundance at the markets

New items keeping popping up at the local markets -- this week look for cabbage, green beans and broccoli. And they still have plenty of peas, strawberries, lettuce, rhubarb, hydroponic tomatoes and baked goods.

Many markets still have a wide variety of bedding and vegetable plants and hanging baskets.

Here are the markets that are open now. Watch for new openings weekly.

Ambridge Farmers' Market, Park Road and Route 65; 4 to 7 p.m. Thursdays.

Beaver Farmers' Market, courthouse parking lot, Fourth Street, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

Beaver Falls Farmers' Market, parking lot behind Brodhead Apartments, 8th Avenue and 12th Street, 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays.

Bridgewater Farmers' Market, Bridge Street, Beglin parking lot, 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesdays.

Butler County Cooperative Farmers' Market, between Chestnut and West Diamond streets. Mondays and Wednesdays 3 to 6 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

Carrick Farmers' Market, behind Carrick Shopping Center, 2100 Brownsville Road, 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays.

City-County Building, 400 Grant St., Downtown, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays.

Coraopolis Farmers' Market, Presbyterian Church of Coraopolis, Broadway and Fifth, 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays.

East Liberty, Penn Circle West, 3:30 to 8 p.m. Thursdays.

Cranberry Township Farmers' Market, 2525 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township Municipal building, parking lot. 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Fridays. Also Cranberry Township Municipal Park, Route 19. Saturdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Farmers' Cooperative Market of East Liberty, 344 N. Sheridan Ave. (behind Home Depot), 5 a.m. to noon Saturdays. Open year-round.

Greensburg Farmers' Market, Downtown Greensburg, behind City Hall. 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays.

Hempfield Farmers' Market, Harrold Zion Lutheran Church, Fosterville Road, 9 a.m. to noon, Saturdays.

Highland Park, Pittsburgh Zoo parking lot, 4 to 8 p.m., Mondays.

Monroeville Lions Club Farmers' Market, Gateway High School, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

North Side Farmers' Market, at East Park, across from the main entrance of Allegheny General Hospital at Cedar Avenue, 3:30 to 8 p.m. Fridays.

Original Farmers' Night Market, Route 50, South Fayette, 5:30 to 9 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Fridays.

South Side Farmers' Market, South 18th and Sidney streets, 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesdays.

Verona Farmers' Market, 736 East Railroad Ave. municipal lot. 4 to 8 p.m. Thursdays.

Farm Stands: Addison Terrace, 2136 Elmore Square, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m, Wednesdays, open now; Alma Illery, 7227 Hamilton Ave., Homewood, across from Alma Illery Medical Center, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays, opens today; Hill House, 1835 Centre Ave., next to main entrance, 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesdays, open now; Westinghouse Valley Human Services Center, 519 Penn Ave., Turtle Creek, in the courtyard, 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays, open now.
