PG donates to non profits where employees volunteer

PITTSBURGH, May 2, 2005 – The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is proud to support the many employees who selflessly volunteer their time to nonprofit organizations. $8,200 was donated to local nonprofit organizations for year ending 2004.

Volunteering 20 hours a year qualifies a full time Post-Gazette employee for a $200 grant for their non-profit organization. A volunteer is defined as someone who serves on a committee or board, or just helps out.

"This is our way of supporting our employees for donating their time to the community," said Jennifer Zgurich, community affairs manager of the Post-Gazette.

The Post-Gazette commends employees for their service in the community and helps support the agency or school the employee volunteers for. 37 employees assisted 41 organizations with their time and the $200 PG Cares grant. Employees volunteer for various organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh, Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank, The Children's Home of Pittsburgh - Childs Way, Huntington's Disease Center of America - Western PA Chapter, Children's Hospital, Pittsburgh Musical Theater, as well as many other organizations.
